ABOUT ALYSSA

Alyssa discovered her love for the classical discipline under the tutelage of her first dressage instructor, German Eventing Olympic silver medalist, Matthias Schwarz. This was a pivotal time during high school, and ultimately sealed her decision to pursue the equine industry through continued education. Her next journey in at Meredith Manor International Equestrian Centre is where she earned her certifications in: Training, Teaching, Massage Therapy, and Leather Working. From then on, it was complete immersion in the horse industry, working at a top producing USEF pony-breeding farm, until being hired back at Meredith Manor as an instructor. In 2018, she then moved back to her home in Southern California, finding a job now working for Matthias Schwarz as an assistant trainer. She worked in this position for 5 years, making valuable connections that provided experiences for growth, until branching out to pursue the development of Horizon Dressage.

EXPERIENCE

Her variety of experiences has afforded her the opportunity to gain valuable experience and knowledge in all aspects of the horse industry, from training foals and unhandled horses, to riding, teaching, and showing on a variety of horses of different ages, breeds, and education levels as well as with a variety of clients.

PHILOSOPHY

Understanding yourself through your equine partner plays a large role in what Horizon Dressage strives to achieve with any horse and rider in the program. Our focus always lies in the benefit of the horse, and creating an environment of growth for all. We believe in finding the right path for each individual, and seek to develop a unique approach to training that functions to support the needs and goals of each horse and student.
